North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University
North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University (NC A&T) is one of the largest historically black colleges in North Carolina. The School was created as the Agricultural and Mechanical College for the Colored Race in Greensboro, NC by the General Assembly in March 1891. The NC A&T is home to one of three engineering colleges in North Carolina, and it maintains extensive research programs in engineering, transportation, and agriculture.
Educational Programs At The North Carolina Agriculture And Technical State University
There are four main components to North Carolina A&T’s curriculum. The first is the arts and sciences college, which meets core requirements for a baccalaureate degree, including engineering, agriculture, and transportation programs. The second is the College of Engineering that offers a Bachelor of Science degree in industrial or civil engineering. The third is the undergraduate professional schools (the School of Architecture, the School of Textiles and Clothing Design Technology, the School of Allied Health Professions, and The College of Agricultural Sciences). The fourth is the doctoral program in engineering.
The College of Engineering offers a Bachelor of Science degree in industrial or civil engineering and first-professional degrees that include the Doctorate of Philosophy (Ph.D.), Master’s Degree programs, and Associate Degrees in electrical technology. The college maintains research programs encompassing fields such as transportation systems, nanotechnology, and agricultural engineering.
School Calendar And Fees Structure
The college has a School Calendar that covers the entire year. Its Academic Year is divided into three terms, each lasting about 11 weeks: Fall Semester (starting in late August or early September), Spring Semester (beginning at mid-January to late March), and Summer term, which runs from May through June. Students are expected to attend classes for a minimum of 12 hours each semester.
The School charges an annual fee based on the number and type of courses you take. The in-state tuition and fees for North Carolina A&T University are $6,657; out-of-state tuition and fees are $20,167.
Campus And Architecture
The School’s campus sits on 800 acres of land just south of the Greensboro Coliseum and is a little over one mile from downtown. The campus has been designated as part of the National Register for Historic Places, with many buildings dating back to 1893 when it was first established. It has a total undergraduate enrollment of over 12,500 and an urban setting. Its campuses are in Greensboro and Winston-Salem.
The School’s architecture reflects its history in that much can be seen by looking at the various buildings. The School’s original building, the Administration Building, was built in 1893 and is still standing at the heart of campus. It has a streamlined Art Deco style with classical details that are characteristic of this era of architecture; it houses administrative offices such as admissions and financial aid and contains classrooms for general education courses on the third floor.
National And International Awards
North Carolina Agriculture And Technical State University has a proud history of winning national and international awards. One example is the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence’s (ASE) Diesel Mechanic Technician program, which was named one of the top mechanic schools in America by U.S. News & World Report. The NC A&T also offers programs like welding and diesel technology.
In conclusion, it is an excellent place to go to school if you are a student on the hunt for a place to further your education and make the most of your life academically. However, if you are a tourist and love history, this 130+ old school has a lot of history for you, even in its architecture.
